Wherever the last 6 months have gone, the time has now passed frantically until 22.05.2023! Today it starts. The currently still empty book... um... sorry, the currently still empty website will be filled with content from different countries from now on. But how did our day begin?
Get up and ... first to the dentist ...
We hardly slept at all. We tidied up the flat until 2 o'clock. Handing over to interim tenants is something else. We definitely underestimated the work.... Well, after 5 hours of sleep we got ready and went to the dentist with Tatjana. In the meantime, Artur did some errands and prepared the car for 6 - 9 months of standstill. There is no time to lose.
Then to the vaccination. The second dengue fever vaccination is still pending. The reason why we scheduled the trip for 22.05. is that it is a new vaccine, which was only approved last year in November and was only available in Germany from February. As you need 2 vaccine doses in an interval of 3 months, we had to travel from 21.02. to 22.05. If you are also considering flying to dengue fever areas, ask your tropical doctor about QDenga (Qdenga – PatientenInfo-Service resp. RKI – Reiseimpfungen – Stellungnahme der STIKO zum neu-zugelassenen Lebendimpfstoff gegen Dengue (Qdenga)).
11 o'clock. We are done. With our nerves and on the way home.

For the last time, it's time to tidy up the flat for the interim tenants who are about to arrive and to check once again whether everything is packed away:

Ok... everything seems to be packed. The flat looks immaculate. Christiane and Klaus came by to say goodbye and take us to the train station and helped us with the final touches. The interim tenants come later.
Status: The cellar is full. The important documents are stored elsewhere, the plants handed in for care, powers of attorney for the most important things issued.... Have we forgotten anything?
… Wir leben auf einem Planeten, verreisen für 6 – 9 Monate und müssen uns über so viele Dinge Gedanken machen… Was werden die Menschen denn irgendwann mal machen, wenn wir 6 – 9 Monate zum Mars fliegen um dort „Urlaub“ zu machen? … Egal, jetzt bleiben wir erst mal auf der Erde 🙂
Here we go! 15 minutes later than planned, but hey... What are buffers for? 6:18 pm the ICE leaves for Frankfurt Airport. It takes 24 minutes to get to the main station in Düsseldorf. No problem. No problem?
Naja, nur so halb. Der 19 kg leichte…. *Hust* … Rucksack von Tatjana und Arturs 14kg leichter Rucksack + noch die „Handgepäckstücke“ mit 4 und 8 kg sind vielleicht doch etwas ungleich eingepackt. Aber jetzt ist keine Zeit. Für Optimierungen haben wir 6 – 9 Monate Zeit. Hätte Artur doch mal die zweite Kamera, die 6 Akkus, die 2 Stative, die ganzen Medikamente und die 3 Paar Schuhe zu Hause gelassen. Das kann ja Heiter werden ^^ Naja, 20 Kg dürfen wir auf den Inlandsflügen ja mitnehmen… Ggf. müssen die Rucksäcke getauscht werden, weil Tatjanas größer ist als Arturs.
Christiane and Klaus were with us at the track to say goodbye 🙂 Oh boy... It's only a temporary goodbye... We're not emigrating, but we're already leaving with one crying eye and one laughing eye.
6:28 pm, our ICE is 10 minutes late. Never mind. Here, too, we have planned 2.5 hours. Since the check-in counter closes 40 minutes before departure, we still have an ICE buffer, and there is an ICE from Düsseldorf to Frankfurt every 30 minutes. Here we go...
Next stop: Frankfurt Airport! Airline: Singapore Airlines. Destination: Singapore. Then on to Kuala Lumpur and from there to the hotel.
CheckIn, SecurityCheck and way to the gate...
We arrived at Frankfurt airport 8 minutes late. After checking in and handing in our luggage, as well as the security check, first of all... RELAXATION... We fly off. Our sabbatical begins!
As nourishment for our nerves, we brought some provisions with us, which should be enough for the journey. Since we are already on the road, why not having a bite? 🙂

Kuala Lumpur…
Tired from the long journey, we finally arrived at our first accommodation. Everything worked out wonderfully with the change of planes in Singapore and the onward flight. Our luggage also arrived and we took a taxi for 120 MYR RM (Malaysian Ringgit), about 25€, from the airport to the hotel 58km away.
The little hunger gnaws at us. So before we go to bed, we eat something. So off we go again to the Alor Street Food Night Market in Bukit Bintang.
That's all for now. The next report will probably be from Indonesia next week. More precisely, from Sumatra with the experiences we had until then 🙂
Oh... one more thing that made the flight extremely sweet: Our inflatable neck pillows, which we received as a gift. Thank you so much for that! And yes, they are definitely a recommendation we wouldn't want to miss on this trip! 🙂 This was Artur's first flight without a tense neck!
